Emily and Brandon Burry
Proud owners of Burry Chocolates
In 1961, United States Army veteran Thomas Allen “Al” Burry and his wife, Anna, decided they were going to make a living crafting delicious homemade candies. Anna and Al (Grandma and Grandpa) opened their business called The Fudge Shoppe in Flemington, NJ. The business steadily grew with the help of their sons, daughters and their husbands and wives. As the family continued to grow, Brandon's childhood began.
Brandon's favorite memories include many early mornings surrounded by aunts, uncles, brothers, nephews and nieces; my hands in melted chocolate learning to make the delicious sweets. Grandpa would walk around the store; his right hand covered in chocolate teaching me how to handle the melted goodness while Grandma worked nearby diligently packaging the delicate creations.
In the kitchen, fudge was mixed in large kettles and poured onto cool marble tables. Orders were taken, customers were greeted, and in the basement, candies made their way along the enrober before heading through the cooling tunnel. At the heart of it all was family, making it all possible. It was quite a wonderful scene.
Brandon and Emily both grew up in Bucks County, PA where they went to the same grade schools together. Brandon spent much of his childhood working through his high school years at the Fudge Shoppe. Emily spent her high school working career working various customer service jobs. After high school, Brandon joined the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Brandon and Emily got married, made their way to the coast, and made North Carolina their home.
Inspired by a lifelong connection to chocolate and a deep respect for family tradition, Brandon and Emily dreamed of creating something of their own. Years later, that dream became a reality. Brandon and Emily began Burry Chocolates in Hampstead, NC in 2020.
Burry Chocolates proudly celebrates 6 years in business. This milestone is a reflection of the support from the local community, for which they are grateful for. With that continued support, they look forward to serving their customers for many years to come.
Burry Chocolates is committed to making the best candies to grow great relationships within the community. From the Burry Chocolate family to yours, they hope to see you soon and welcome you to the store!
